Check with your department if something specific is required. If your major does not list a specific computer recommendation, here are some general recommendations from IT. You can find computers with these specs at any computer retailer.

> ⚠️ - We do not recommend using employer-provided devices with system, application, and/or web restrictions, as these may impact the student experience.
> ⚠️ - Beginning July 2026, SmarterProctoring will be our online testing solution. It is generally not compatible with Chromebooks, iPads, tablets, or mobile phones for taking exams.

# Internet

- The minimum download speed for Canvas is 512 kilobits per second (Kbps). Broadband internet is recommended, with a minimum of 25 megabits per second (Mbps) download speed and 3 Mbps upload speed.
