The Mitel phone system has a "temporary greeting" option for your voicemail.
To activate the Extended Absence Greeting, follow these steps:
- Go to the Voicemail system by either pressing Voice Mail on your desk phone or dialing 208-467-8989 from another phone. (The toll-free number is 800-349-6957.)
- If dialing 8989, when prompted, put in your extension. If dialing your deskphone, wait for the greeting.
- When you hear your greeting begin, press * immediately and you will hear a prompt for your voicemail PIN or passcode.
- After entering your PIN, you will hear whether you have voicemails. You can ignore that message and select U for "User Options"
- Select G for "Greeting"
- Select G for changing your Extended Absence Greeting
- Select R to record your Extended Absence Greeting
- Record your greeting then press # (pound)
- Listen to the menu to review your greeting or select from the other menu items
Disabling the Extended Absence Greeting
- On your deskphone, press the Voicemail button.
- Input your Passcode.
- You will hear a prompt that your extended absence greeting is on, and you will press 1 to retain it of 2 to cancel.
- If you cancel it, the voicemail greeting will revert to your everyday greeting.
- **SEE IMPORTANT NOTES BELOW**
> ℹ️ **NOTE: **If you use the extended absence greeting, you will not be able to dial in to get your voicemail messages REMOTELY, but you will still receive your voicemails via email if you are set up for those. Also, when you record the extended absence greeting and accept it, it becomes your main greeting until you disable the greeting. Remember to disable the extended absence greeting when you return by going into your voicemail. It will prompt you to leave it on or revert to your normal greeting.
