NNU IT Services is currently investigating an issue affecting WiFi connectivity on certain laptops. Impacted devices may experience a range of problems, including failure to connect, slow speeds, intermittent access, or unreliable performance on our wireless networks.

Our findings indicate that the affected laptops all use built-in **Realtek WiFi adapters**. Devices equipped with **Intel, Broadcom**, or other brands of adapters have not exhibited these issues. This is not an isolated problem—many organizations have reported similar experiences with Realtek adapters, particularly in environments powered by major networking equipment manufacturers.

Additional reports of the issue have increased in recent weeks, suggesting numerous student owned devices are impacted.  No NNU-owned laptops contain Realtek WiFi adapters and are therefore not affected by this issue.

While rolling back to pre-2025 drivers has occasionally provided temporary relief, this solution is not consistently available.

Until a permanent resolution is provided by Realtek, **NNU IT Services recommends the following workarounds** for students needing reliable access to NNU WiFi:

- **Use a USB WiFi adapter** that does not contain a Realtek chipset. We have tested the following adapters; however, there are numerous other options available online and at local retailers.
  - [ASUS AX1800 Dual-Band AX1800 WiFi 6 Nano USB Adapter](https://a.co/d/40jqhHL)
  - [UGREEN AX900 USB WiFi 6 Adapter](https://a.co/d/gCAcsdV)
  - [Nineplus USB WiFi 6 AX1800Mbps Network Adapter](https://a.co/d/58kI0Em)
  - [NETGEAR AC1900 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter](https://a.co/d/iLwAdL5)
- **Connect via wired Ethernet** where available.
- **Utilize a cellular hotspot** if you have access to one

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this issue may cause and appreciate your patience. NNU IT Services will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
